Babylon’s newest bakery held a grand opening part on Tuesday.

Mario’s Pasticceria opened at 199 East Main Street in October with 22-year-old Anthony Mistretta at the helm.

While young Mistretta knows all the tricks of the trade from his family. He grew up in West Babylon’s popular Michael & Paul Italian Bakery, which his family owned.

Now he ‘s carrying on the family legacy with the help of his mom.

Some of the best sellers since October, he says, have been the pies and cannoli.

“Babylon Village has been great,” he said. “It is a clean, quaint town, with friendly people.”

During the ribbon-cutting ceremony, the village and the chamber of commerce officially welcomed the business to the neighborhood.

“I am in here at least twice a week and I know my wife’s here at least three times a week,” said Babylon Mayor Ralph Scordino.

“What a great addition to Babylon Village.”
