The Tanger Outlets of Deer Park are trying to ease the impact of the government shutdown for federal employees.
To do so, the organization will be giving away free $20 gift cards to workers who haven’t received a paycheck during the longest shutdown in U.S. history.
Those gift cards, which can be used at any store in the outlet, are sponsored through Tanger Outlets’ TangerCares program.
According to Tanger officials, TangerCares is a program dedicated to demonstrating our commitment to the communities in which we operate through volunteerism, fund-raising efforts, and charitable donations.
“Through TangerCARES, Tanger Outlets is committed to helping those in the communities in which we operate,” said Steven B. Tanger, CEO of Tanger Outlets. “During this difficult time, we want to show support for government workers impacted by the shutdown.”
In addition to the gift cards, the furloughed employees also will receive one free skate rental at the shopping center’s ice rink. This offer will expire when the shutdown is over.
The gift cards can be picked up from now until Monday, Jan. 28.
