Update: After three months in business, Surf Donuts owners decided to close down indefinitely.

A West Coast-styled donut shop has rode the wave into Babylon Village.

Last month, Surf Donuts swung open its doors in the former Edible Arrangements location at 10 Grove Place.

“There plenty of customizable donut places in California and Las Vegas, and some in Florida, but not many here (on Long Island),” said Raymond Bader of Surf Donuts.

The donut shop, which sells gourmet yeast donuts, was founded by West Babylon resident John Ciluffo, a longtime operator of restaurants and delis across Long Island.

“Donuts are hot and trendy and John loved the village,” said Bader on Ciluffo’s first venture in the donut making business.

According to Surf Donuts, all of the donuts are made fresh daily on premise.

“We have a great pastry chef that is always making new creations,” said Bader. “And every couple of days we have different types of donuts.”

One of those unique creations is their piña colada donut, which features coconut flakes, whip cream, and a cherry, garnished in pineapple.

The donut shop, which has 8-seats inside, will be also offering catering for private events.

“Any time of theme we can do on a donut,” said Bader.

Surf Donuts is open six days a week, Tuesday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday 8 p.m. to 3 p.m., and closed on Monday.
