The sun was shining and the mead and beer was flowing at the first-ever Ales by the Rails and Long Island Mead Festival in Lindenhurst on Saturday.

From 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., the Lindenhurst Village Chamber of Commerce held a beer festival— featuring several local breweries— while Lindenhurst’s W A Meadwerks held the Northeast’s first mead festival at the village’s gazebo.

In addition to beer and drinks, there were several bouncy houses, food trucks, and vendors lined up on North Wellwood and West Hoffman avenues. There was also plenty of country music and line dancing.
