The staff of Long Island’s Lessing’s Hospitality Group dedicated their Saturday morning to cleaning Babylon Town’s Overlook Beach.

It was a collaborative effort between Lessing’s Hospitality Group and Save the Great South Bay.

The groups recruited students from Plainedge High School and St. John’s the Baptist to help on Saturday.

After collecting pounds of garbage — including bottles, plastic wrappers, pipes, metals, and more — the Blue Point Brewery served shucked oysters and refreshments.

The Lessing’s Hospitality Group, which own several restaurants and catering venues on Long Island, plus Blaze Fast Fire’d Pizza franchises and Hatch Brunch in Huntington, hosts cleanups each year — it is part of the organization’s Do Good initiative to help preserve the local environment.

In addition to Overlook Beach’s cleanup, the Lessing’s participated in cleaning West Harbor Beach in Oyster Bay earlier this month.
