As the temperature begins to drop as the colder months approach, the Babylon Animal Shelter is reaching out to the public for much-needed supplies.

According to officials, the non-profit is in desperate need of blankets, comforters, rugs and dog beds.

Last year, the shelter opened a new facility at 80 New Highway in Amityville, after spending 20-plus years in West Babylon. At its new space — which can hold up to 55 dogs and 50 cats — all of the dog cages are currently full, which has led to a drain on resources.

In addition to the blankets and beds, the Babylon shelter will be accepting other donations too.

“We basically accept all new or used pet items such as bowls, leashes, collars, dog beds, toys. Any wet or dry dog food, and all treats and bones,” said Kim Kaler of the shelter. “We also accept used children’s stuffed animals, but must not contain any beans.”

All donations will be accepted directly at the shelter at 80 New Highway in Amityville. For any questions, call (631) 643-9270.
