Three years ago, the Town of Babylon honored Lindenhurst resident and retired UFC Fighter Dennis Bermudez with his own holiday.
Now, on this year’s Dennis Bermudez Day — which lands on the mixed martial artist’s birthday, Dec. 13 — the 33-year-old is aiming to do something special.
“I want to take my day, celebrate and do something cool with it by giving back to a charity,” he told GreaterBabylon.
About a month ago, Bermudez and his business partner Stanley Czarnecki began planning for the first annual Dennis Bermudez Day Bar Crawl in Babylon Village.
The event will be held on Dec. 13, from 6 p.m. to midnight. After purchasing tickets, people will be given access to bop around town with Bermudez for his birthday. The tickets will give revelers discounted pricing on beverages throughout the night.
The proceeds from the tickets, which are $20 each, will benefit the village’s American Legion, which is need of a new roof.
Babylon Town Supervisor Rich Schaffer will be on hand to celerbate.
“It’s been an honor knowing Dennis throughout his career, and I am very proud that he is using his day to support two great organizations that work with the people right here in the Town of Babylon,” said Schaffer. “Please come out and support Dennis this Friday.”
According to Bermudez, the crawl will begin at 6 p.m. at Lily Flanagan’s and will visit several bars/restaurants in the downtown, including Monsoon, Horace & Sylvia, The Local and Mary Carroll’s.
There will also be a “recovery session” scheduled at the Great South Bay Brewery in Bay Shore the following day from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
