For the first time ever, the Babylon Village Chamber of Commerce had a day dedicated solely to its popular annual Gingerbread Decorating Contest.

On Sunday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., the community brought their sugary creations to the American Legion for the yearly contest. Usually, the event takes place during the village’s Dickens Festival, which will not be held.

“We love to see people’s creativity in the gingerbread houses they create,” said Kelly Peckholdt, head of the chamber.

Four different age groups were in the competition; up to 6 years old, 7-12 years old, 12-17 years old, and 18 and up. The colorful creations were on display at the event and open for judging.

In addition to the competition, there were photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus, games, a DJ, and face painting.
