PSEG Long Island will not be shutting down service over back-payments for residential customers facing financial hardships during this coronavirus scare, it was announced today.

“As always, our priority is the safety and well-being of our customers, employees and the communities we serve, and our thoughts are with those experiencing difficulty as a result,” reads the announcement.

This policy will be in effect through the end of April, after which PSEG Long Island will evaluate the continued need at that time.

Any PSEG Long Island customers experiencing financial difficulty as a result of issues related to the coronavirus should contact PSEG Long Island via My Account or by calling 800-490-0025 to enter into a deferred payment arrangement.

“We recognize that customers may experience financial difficulty as a result of the outbreak, whether they or a family member fall ill, are required to quarantine, or because their income is otherwise affected,” the announcement further reads. “We hope to alleviate those customers’ concerns about their electric service …”
