Babylon Village Mayor Ralph Scordino signed an executive order to suspend all parking meter fees in the village until further notice.

He made the announcement via a Facebook post on Saturday.

“I have suspended meter enforcement throughout the Village of Babylon during this critical time in our Village and in the best interests of continuing to support our downtown business district,” the mayor said.

This also applies for on-street parking, which, among other things will allow people to grab curbside pickup from local restaurants. Many, if not all, of the restaurants in Babylon are offering delivery, curbside pickup or both.

According to the mayor’s office, tickets will only be written on complaints or the instances of blocking a hydrant, handicap parking or access and blocking driveways.
