Babylon High School has announced the Class of 2020’s top two students.
Seniors Anna Romero Mejia and Katherine Hannon were named valedictorian and salutatorian, respectively.
“Both students earned these honors by way of their exceptional academic records, commitment to success and diligent work ethic throughout their high school careers,” said an official on behalf of the Babylon School District.
Principal Al Cirone added Anna “is open-minded and loves to be challenged” and Katherine’s “passions lie in the field of social studies as she is intrigued by world policy and is always exploring ways to better the world in which we live.”
Romero will be heading to Brown University this fall to study physics on a full ride. Katherine is attending Washington and Lee University and majoring in economics.
“Both young women have been wonderful ambassadors of Babylon Junior-Senior High School,” said the district’s superintendent of schools, Linda Rozzi in a release. “They will now take their talents into the world after graduation as they continue to represent us as proud Babylon alumni.”
